LAKE RESEARCH PARTNERS CONGRATULATES GEORGIA'S COMPETITIVE DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY CANDIDATES

WASHINGTON, DC (July 25, 2006) -- Lake Research Partners (LRP) congratulates the Democratic candidates of several key primary elections in Georgia. As Democratic and progressive candidates strive to gain ground at the local, state, and federal levels in Georgia's general elections this November, Tuesday's competitive primaries engaged the electorate.

Yesterday, LRP's client Hank Johnson moved one step closer to Washington DC as he surprised political insiders by forcing a run-off in the Democratic primary for Georgia's 4th Congressional District. Johnson, a DeKalb County Commissioner, will now face embattled incumbent Cynthia McKinney in an August 8th run-off. The winner of that race will go on to face Republican Catherine Davis in November's election in the deeply Democratic district.

Lake Research also worked with Campaign Money Watch, a campaign finance reform group that has targeted Tom DeLay, Ralph Reed, and other Republicans embroiled in campaign finance scandals. Voters rejected former Christian Coalition leader Reed in his bid to become the Republican nominee for Lt. Governor. Our work helped stop a rising star in the Republican Party and proved that ethics and corruption are still important issues for voters this cycle.

LRP also congratulates Denise Majette in her victory to be the Democrats' nominee for State School Superintendent, helping to bring a progressive voice to this all important state issue.

LRP is honored to have contributed to these efforts in Georgia to help bring progressive and Democratic voices back to Georgia politics. We look forward to the efforts of Hank Johnson leading to his August 8th run-off and Denise Majette as they both continue the fight for progressive values and priorities.
