LAKE RESEARCH PARTNERS CONGRATULATES DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY WINNERS
WASHINGTON, DC (June 8, 2006) -Lake Research Partners (LRP) congratulates the victors of several key primary elections. Decisive primary wins in all parts of the country pave the way for Democratic and progressive candidates to gain ground at the local, state, and federal levels in November's general elections.
LRP's client Jon Tester won a significant victory Tuesday in the Democratic primary for Montana's U.S. Senate race. Tester, a state Senator and farmer, defeated the once presumed favorite in the five-way primary, despite being out-spent two to one and outplayed in advertising. Tester now faces Conrad Burns in the general election this November.
In another key race, Gary King won a competitive three-way Democratic primary for Attorney General in New Mexico. LRP was proud to be part of the team that helped King to victory in his mission to protect New Mexico families as Attorney General. King builds on his experiences in Albuquerque as a long-serving state legislator from the Moriarity community.
In California, two LRP clients fared especially well in the state's primaries on June 6th. California Insurance Commissioner John Garamendi earned the Democratic party's nomination for Lieutenant Governor. LRP worked jointly with HVS Associates to advise Garamendi in his race to secure the nomination. Jerry McNerney had a big win in California's 11th Congressional District primary. McNerney, a labor-endorsed energy specialist, garnered 52.1% of the vote.
LRP congratulates Francine Busby for her impressive effort in the California 50th Congressional District special election. In a heavily Republican district, Busby ran an excellent campaign, vying to replace Randy "Duke" Cunningham.
LRP is honored to have contributed to these successful primary campaigns and to have had the privilege to work with many candidates who fought for progressive values in Tuesday's primaries. LRP congratulates candidates Gary King, Jon Tester, John Garamendi, and Jerry McNerney for their significant victories.
For information regarding the California candidates, contact David Mermin at 510-286-2022; for Tester information, Josh Ulibarri at 202-776-9066; for King information, Daniel Gotoff at 646-217-4085.
